Social SEO And Your Blog

For all of the internet marketers and webmasters looking for good traffic to your site and blog, social seo is something you should be aware of. Social SEO is sort of a generic term, and can have a few different meanings. I will try to explain what I believe this means, and how I apply it to my marketing strategies.

Social SEO, to me, means optimizing your blog for the social networks. These networks would be the blogosphere, and all of the social networks like Digg.com, Dropjack.com, Reddit, and Del.icio.us. These are places where you can get you blog picked up by others, also known as bookmarked. But how do you get your stuff bookmarked?

There are 2 ways to make this happen:

  1. One of the ways is by link baiting. What this means is you write about hot topics or controversial topics, and have an eye-catching headline. You need the headline to first get them to start reading. The information will then make them want to let others know about it. You sort of bait them into linking to you.
  2. The other way is through some good keyword research. Using the techniques in The Social SEO Guide,  you will know how people are looking for stuff on the internet, can then see who is the real competition, and then write an optimized article, or blog post. Using these methods, you will then get high rankings in the search engines, and people will find you this way.

Both of these methods work. I consider them both to be forms of Social SEO, of which I use to get traffic to my site. I personally prefer to get more through the search engines, but my methods in The Social SEO Guide will work for both link baiting and search engine traffic.

Check out all of the other techniques and tips you can learn by reading The Social SEO Guide.

  2. Fix Computer Errors Says:

Yes, I agree with Noah. Using the titles and keywords to “bait” others into linking to you.

    Is it working for you?

Guys Web2 and Social SEO is critical. So much so that the likes of Google, Yahoo, MSN etc… are starting to use webpages from authority sites like Digg, Squidoo, YouTube Video, Yahoo Video, Hubpages etc in the top 10-30 results under a lot of keyword searches.

I was hardcore SEO, so I know a bit about it. These sites are beating out the typical SEO optimized webpages in a lot of cases.

The best thing about it is, that 99.9% of online businesses have not caught onto the Social SEO and Web2 thingy yet.

Here’s another tip. Why not use your basic SEO stratergies like, Linking, Keyword phrase based Title and Headings with Social SEO and Web2.

Not sure about the social bookmarking. I’ve heard you can get banned by google for using digg…

There is that nasty little rumor going around right now. This has to deal more with the people who digg their own stories, then email all their friends in Digg and have them digg it too. It is more of a spam issue, than the casual Digger or casual social bookmarker.
