Social Networking Sites

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Part of your online marketing tactics should be the use of social networking sites. This is one of the best (and free) methods of getting some traffic to your website. The other benefit of using these sites is getting a one way link back to your own website. And, with a little consistency and patience, you can and up with a large amount of links and traffic from these social networking sites.

The way to use them to their fullest potential is as follows:

  1. Do your keyword research - you need to find the best keyword phrase people are looking for right now that relates to your product
  2. Once you find the keyword, then write an article on your blog. This article must be optimized in a certain fashion to be able to rank on Google’s front page.
  3. When you are done with the article, you use the social networking sites to get your link there. This is really just a matter of establishing accounts in a few of the better sites, and then bookmarking your own blog post to this site.
  4. Then, repeat.

The concept really is that simple. Now, there are specifics for each of the steps in which I cover in The Social SEO Guide, that will help you make the most out of each post. Why just write a post? It is a waste of time. You need to impactful, but targeted, headlines and keyword phrases you are going after. I can show you all of this in The Social SEO Guide.

Social SEO And Your Blog

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

For all of the internet marketers and webmasters looking for good traffic to your site and blog, social seo is something you should be aware of. Social SEO is sort of a generic term, and can have a few different meanings. I will try to explain what I believe this means, and how I apply it to my marketing strategies.

Social SEO, to me, means optimizing your blog for the social networks. These networks would be the blogosphere, and all of the social networks like Digg.com, Dropjack.com, Reddit, and Del.icio.us. These are places where you can get you blog picked up by others, also known as bookmarked. But how do you get your stuff bookmarked?

There are 2 ways to make this happen:

  1. One of the ways is by link baiting. What this means is you write about hot topics or controversial topics, and have an eye-catching headline. You need the headline to first get them to start reading. The information will then make them want to let others know about it. You sort of bait them into linking to you.
  2. The other way is through some good keyword research. Using the techniques in The Social SEO Guide,  you will know how people are looking for stuff on the internet, can then see who is the real competition, and then write an optimized article, or blog post. Using these methods, you will then get high rankings in the search engines, and people will find you this way.

Both of these methods work. I consider them both to be forms of Social SEO, of which I use to get traffic to my site. I personally prefer to get more through the search engines, but my methods in The Social SEO Guide will work for both link baiting and search engine traffic.

Check out all of the other techniques and tips you can learn by reading The Social SEO Guide.

What Is Social Bookmarking?

Friday, December 14th, 2007

What is social bookmarking? You may have heard this term and not known exactly what it meant. Social bookmarking is taking a favorite website of yours, and making it a bookmark. It is sort of like what you do on your personal computer. If you see a site you like, and want to remember it, then you can bookmark it, or add it to your favorites. This way you do not need to remember it again, and can easily find it. Social bookmarking works the same way.

Only this time, you bookmark it to a website. If you are wondering why one would do this, it is for many reasons.

  1. One of the reasons would be so when you travel you can still find your favorite sites. People are always on the go now, and basically it is a wireless world. Having a list of your favorite sites on a website will help you easily find the sites again from any computer, not just yours.
  2. Another reason is to share the links. Some of the social networks are set up for people to share links with each other. Maybe you are a member of a very targeted group of people working on a project together. This would be a good way of letting others know the sites your find relevant and important. Very good for group sharing.
  3. The reason I use social bookmarking is for search engine spiders and one-way links. Everytime I post anything to my blog, I let a select list of social networks know I have new information out there. This will allow all of my sites and web pages to have a link on each of these sites. This is good for the Google PR. Also, it allows search engine spiders to naturally (also known as organically) find my websites. Another plus for the search engine rankings.

Those are 3 of the reasons to use social bookmarking, and there are probably plenty more out there. If you are trying to earn a living online, then you will definitely need to learn how to use the social networks to your advantage.

There are certain social networks, which perform much better than others. And, there is also a trick when using them to ensure you get the rankings you want. These are all explained in The Social SEO Guide in detail. It is not as simple as starting to bookmark anything you do. This is unwanted sites and links, and can be classified as SPAM. No one wants that.
